Mrs Hobson forgot to lock the gate when she went for a cup of tea at the Country Women’s Association and a multinational mining conglomerate backed by both state and federal governments installed a coal seam gas fracking unit in her house. She tried to contact her local Member of Parliament but he had purchased 100 acres in the south island of New Zealand and was unavailable for comment until the next election. Unfortunately, all the gas that her plant produced had been pre-sold at 0% profit to another multinational conglomerate so she was unable to heat her house or cook her food. At least she could still take Rex for a walk.
The fourth illustration in the ‘House’ series by Russell James. This is the Fracking House.
